For a dose of both classic and modern art, visit the American Folk Art Museum or the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art.
#2: Take in Some Scenery
One of the most recognizable and famous landmarks in NYC is Central Park. Take a stroll through Central Park itself or visit the Central Park West historic district to look into NYC’s past. Enjoy the Hudson River Greenway or choose the Hudson River path through Riverside Park to take in views of the river and towering Manhattan.
To see some of New York’s oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods, visit West End Avenue to see the classic architecture, charming homefronts, and more. To see other Upper West Side neighborhoods, check out Henry Hudson Parkway, Riverside Drive, Morningside Heights, and Lincoln Square.
If you are headed through Morningside Heights, you might walk past Columbia University. Take in some sights on this scenic and historic campus on your way through the neighborhood.
#3: See a Show at the Lincoln Center Plaza
For anyone visiting or moving to the Upper West Side, taking in a show at Lincoln Center is a bucket-list activity. From operas to symphonies to ballet, you will find something for every taste at the Lincoln Center. Book ahead to avoid the crunch or purchase tickets day-of to see performances by:

#4: Do Some Shopping
Do you have an itch to go shopping? NYC’s Upper West Side has you covered. Head to the intersection of 77th and Amsterdam Avenue every Sunday to visit the Grand Bazaar NYC. Grab a coffee and stroll around, browsing antiques, artisanal food booths, designer clothing, and much, much more.
You could also visit the Tucker Square Greenmarket at 66th and Columbus Avenue and pick up sustainable goods and support local vendors.
#5: See Columbus Circle
Visit one of the most famous locations in Manhattan! Columbus Circle has luxury shops, fantastic dining, amazing views, and more. Visit the Deutsche Bank Center, formerly known as the Time Warner Center, lounge around the Columbus Circle central fountain, and take in the scenic views of New York’s Upper West Side neighborhood from the edges of Manhattan.
For a different shopping experience along Columbus Circle, visit the Turnstyle Underground Market for vendor food, coffee, sweets, and more.
#6: Eat the Best Food
Every NYC neighborhood will say it has the best food, but cuisines converge on the Upper West Side to create a wide variety of dining experiences. Stop by the famous Jacob’s Pickles on Amsterdam Ave to get a fried chicken biscuit or house-made pickles. Cash in on a lobster roll at Luke’s Lobster, or find a taste of Italia at Parm. The Upper West Side has all the flavors, from the South Pacific banh mi to a New York bagel with cream cheese.
Fancy doing a bit of your own cooking? Stop by the Greenmarket or make a quick trip to Whole Foods or one of many multicultural markets to find a world of flavorful ingredients that you cannot find anywhere else.
#7: Grab a Drink on a Rooftop
